There’s a book for this… 9 1/2 Narrow My Life in Shoes by Patricia Morrisroe. She tells the story of her life in a Catholic household and school system by way of popular shoes during the era. I will never look at the Beatles or mascara the same way again. Nostalgic at worst feminist at best.
Follow Jessica Yellin and Yasharali for news that is fair, not antisemitic, empathetic and as impartial as it seems to get. I'm 58 but my black cowboy boots, a requirement for early 90s and thigh high electric suede boots and teal green ankle boots never worn but still cherished earned a nostalgic look today after reading this. And you're magic. Know aspects of your life haven't been all rainbows and unicorns but your experiences and love of life's uniqueness has no match. Bravo always.
It was getting really hard not to feel so “useless” while I see and hear stories of families being torn apart by ICE. So, I decided to start sharing stories, like Lalo's, a man who escaped the cartel in Mexico and is now at risk of being sent back after being granted asylum. I'm hoping people read about his story and donate to his GoFundMe. It's on my page if you're interested in reading about it.
Also, I have been avoiding my Nike Air Rifts because they were a gift from my ex (first lesbian heartbreak), I've been forcing myself to wear them cause they're cool. You just motivated me to wear them again. <3
ok first of all i need to admit i saw my name here and SCREAMED. thank you thank you thank you <3
second: this was delightful beginning to end! the miu miu mule... judy blume's cowboy boot collection...!! the pirate boots reminded me of a pair of vivienne boots i tried on at a vintage store in bushwick i think in 2023 that fit my PERFECTLY but i didn't buy them because i was living on a freelance writer slash williamsburg nanny income at the time. substack won't let me attach a picture in the comments but they were perfect... i wonder if i can track them down now

Thank you for reading it. I hope Luis is listening. I know he has issues with the written page
Such a tender way of putting “refuses to read” BUT guess what!? He’s been ripping through yours. He just needs proper temptation.
Currently wearing pink and blue Flabelus shoes! Love your cosy bedroom!
Loved this, as I love shoes too. Just watched Treasure, brilliant. Thank you.

Jessica! I love your voice and I also love that you’re sharing the space you’ve built to magnify these stories. Will go right to the GoFundMe.
And I would avoid those shoes for awhile too, but now you’re remixing them :)
